Ani Difranco

Angela Maria Ani DiFranco, an American-Canadian singer and songwriter. Her albums span over 20 years. The songs of DiFranco are categorized as alternative rock and folk. They also include influences from jazz hip hop punk, and rock and roll. Ani DiFranco, widely regarded as a feminist icon, and Grammy-winning performer, is regarded as the pioneer in DIY music. It was one of the first musicians to start their own labels in the year 1990. DiFranco was born in Buffalo New York on September 23rd of 1970, the daughter of Elizabeth (Ross) and Dante Americo DiFranco The couple had become acquainted while at Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Her father was Italian descent and her mother was from Montreal. Ani diFranco composed and performed the track 32 Flavors. The song is from her album from 1995 Not a Pretty Girl, which was DiFranco's 6th album for her studio. In 2013, DiFranco apologized after it was revealed the fact that she had planned 3 days of workshops at a former Louisiana slave plantation.
